1993 Grey Panthers
Text
Brown's Mart Community Arts, Darwin City
Throughout the year, 1993
Sarah Calver predominantly ran the Older Adults Group in 1993, with David McMicken assisting and choreographing. This year, we introduced to the repertoire some dances from Medieval times and created a dance, 'Esther Who?', based on water aerobics that the ladies were doing. We also introduced some creative writing workshops to assist the women in writing their performance material.
The women performed at Mixtures at Mart, Open House where they performed 'Sister Act!' and 'Esther Who?', National Dance Week, Evergreens Easter Show, Senior Citizens’ Week and the University of the Third Age (U3A), Gathering Ground for the Darwin Fringe Festival, Batchelor College 40th Birthday, and Brown's Mart 21st Celebrations.
By the end of 1993, the Darwin Dance Mob Older Adults Group (50 years and over) was renamed The Grey Panthers.
