Make a Dance In A Week 2016
Tracks Dance Studio, Frog Hollow Centre for the Arts, Darwin City
4 - 9 April, 2016
Male Focus
Make a Dance in a Week (MADIAW) is Tracks’ once-yearly school holiday program that engages school students in intensive movement workshops and closely involves participants in a fun and challenging choreographic process.
During the April school holiday’s young males (students in Year's 7-12) enrolled in an intensive week of movement and dance making. Working with guest choreographer Aaron Lim and Macon Riley, participants were involved in a creative process to make and perform a dance work in a week! The week focused on 3 young boys and their 2 older counterparts. The movements looked at push and pull and the dynamics that are created when the small young boys move with the bigger older boys.
The piece was performed at the Good Vibes Youth Fest at Jingili Water Gardens on Saturday April 9.
