2015 Choreographic Program
Tracks Dance Company is seeking expressions of interest for its 2015 Choreographic Program.
Led by Kelly Beneforti, who is the Tracks Dance Animateur in 2015, the program is open to anyone with a desire to develop their understanding and practice of choreography.
The program provides
- a supportive and professional environment
- exposure to a range of choreographic processes
- exploration of personal dance style and interests
- an opportunity to create a short piece of choreography for a public showing
- a space to meet and collaborate with other dancers and makers
Tracks aims to build the culture of dance making and appreciation in Darwin by encouraging the artistic development of the program's participants. Kelly will facilitate a series of workshops that invite movement generation, choreographic crafting and critical reflection. Working both individually and collaboratively, we will experiment with choreographic tasks, improvisation, writing, alternative spaces, music, dance film and costume in order to develop ideas and find new ways to move and create. The program is about deepening your understanding of the processes that go into making strong dance work!
The eleven-week program will run February 2 - April 19 in the Tracks Dance Studio at Frog's Hollow Centre for the Arts. Two workshops will be run per week, ending in a public showing April 18-19. The Tracks Choreographic Program is free.
