Mentored Residency

Mentored Residency

Mentored Residencies

An invitational opportunity for local, independent dance/movement artists to utelise the Tracks Dance Studio with guidance from a Tracks Dance Animateur to prompt direction and growth within their practice. Mentored residencies are offered through a case by case basis. Examples of ways that this offering has been adapted to have been:

  • Artists sourcing funds to seek support within the scope of the work and staff that Tracks currently has.

  • The identity, values and context of an artists work aligns with Tracks Dance values and there is availability for one of our Animateurs to offer time.

  • There is a relational connection and familiarity that has come from a participants involvement via previous engagement with Tracks Dance Company.

Feel free to reach out to talk about mentorship possibilities.

Sheila Rose

Two-time graduate of Choreolab, and performer in Big Dance, Fresh Tracks, Global Positioning, Skin and Bark, and even Dead Singers. Sheila had a series of intensive sessions with Tracks Dance Animateur Kelly Beneforti to help guide her and her ideas to the next stage. The mentorship developed alongside Indigenous artist and model, Marian Patterson, (performer in The Land The Cross and the Lotus in 1998, and often seen on the catwalk for Indigenous fashion shows). The outcome of this mentorship was a 15 minute improvisation to open 2024 Fresh Tracks performances as part of Darwin Fringe Festival.
