CLOUD SPLIT
Tracks Dance Studio, Harbour View Plaza, Darwin
16 -18 August 2024
Cloud Split: A Collective Ode to the Sky, is a program of incremental developments, rituals and performative acts across a year.
At the centre is an intimate live work of stamina in the Darwin Festival, featuring Tracks Dance Animateurs SJ Spillett and Kelly Beneforti, in collaboration with choreographer Jess Devereux, alongside a formidable music score by James Mangohig and moving images by Duane Preston.
Exploring the moody skies of the Top End, Cloud Split investigates the sublime unknowns of improvised performance, seeking to physicalise the unpredictable natural phenomena. Set in a reflective aerial ocean, Cloud Split is a powerful physical work mixing dance and sound.
Revealing the relationship between reflection and projection: with the space, with each other, in life, and in dance.
A love letter to the clouds.
