Jenelle Saunders

Jenelle Saunders is a dynamic dance artist, teacher, and community arts worker based in Darwin, Northern Territory. She collaborates with leading arts organisations and works as an Arts and Cultural Development Officer for the City of Darwin and Dance Animateur for Tracks Dance Company. Her independent works range from intimate contemporary pieces to playful explorations, and she has taught in both urban and remote regions, focusing on arts engagement.

As a long-time collaborator with Tracks, Jenelle has contributed to projects such as Milpirri in Lajamanu, annual Darwin Festival performances, and residencies like Space Time and Trackitavation. Recently, she completed a year-long Studio Residency with dance peers Kate Mornane and Tara Schmidt, co-created and performed Mapping the Glimmer for the Darwin Fringe Festival 2024, and facilitated the Dead Singers Dance Society. In 2025, she will join Tracks' Artistic Leadership team.

Jenelle’s creative direction is evident in innovative projects like Dancebox, Lola & Lola, and Mega Metal Yoga, featured in festivals across the Territory and interstate. She is a member of the creative collective Sweat Season, has contributed to StoryProjects’ Backstage, and was a recipient of Browns Mart Arts' inaugural Performance Experiments program. As a Teaching Artist with Sydney Theatre Company’s School Drama program, she helped educators integrate drama strategies to enrich student literacy outcomes. Jenelle is interested in audio storytelling and created The PK Thing, a podcast pilot and work in progress. 

Her professional development includes training at Impulstanz Vienna, participation in the Incite program with Danielle Micich at Carriageworks Sydney, and weekend Artist Residencies through Browns Mart Arts with Performing Lines.
