Contact Mathew McHugh

Territory born and raised Mat McHugh has worked extensively in regional NT since 2001. 

In 2004 he moved to Papunya (an indigenous community in the western desert) for 3 years, working as a youth worker. He was able become very familiar with the local language Luritja during this time and build strong relationships. 

He re-entered the music industry in 2009 as an audio technician/tour manager/production manager. Barunga, Ngkurr, Elcho Island, Groote Eylandt and Merrepen festival are a selection of the remote events Mat has been involved with. Touring with a wide range of bands and artists through some of the most remote and amazing parts of the territory over the past 7 years. Visiting over 40 communities and touring with bands from all over the country. Mat has an ongoing relationship with such organisations as Skinnyfish Music, Artback NT, Country Arts WA and CAAMA music.

When Mat is not busy travelling to remote parts of the NT he is touring the Arts Festivals circuit of Australia. Working as an audio tech in Sydney and Adelaide since 2011 has given him a wide range of contacts and experiences.
In 2015 Mat was the Production Co-ordinator for Darwin Festival’s Hub “Festival Park”.
