We have settled into our NEW location and now we have a NEW Dance Studio and we'd love to share them both by inviting you to our STUDIO WARMING.

That's right - it's like a House Warming but for our NEW Studio!
Come along and join us for an afternoon of studio warming, blessing & performance - including a good ol' aussie 'Tin Kettling'.

"What is a Tin Kettling?" I hear you say...
Definition - tin kettling: a surprise celebration; an old Aussie custom of banging tin pots & kettles together, and/or throwing them up onto the roof of a newlywed couple, (or new parents, or someone newly into their home) by friends and neighbours, in order to give them one hell of a welcome into their new home.

Where:
Tracks Dance Studio, Harbour View Plaza, Ground Floor, 8 McMinn Street, Darwin

When:
Sunday 14 April

Time:
3pm for a 3.15pm start, until 4.30pm

Meet:
Out the front of the Harbour View Plaza building where our cafe area is located at 3pm

With:
Something to clang and bang, if you have easy access to a noisy, simple kitchen utensil or pot

We look forward to welcoming you ALL back to the Tracks space and we wouldn't be able to make it WARM without you - share the event with your friends & family, the more the merrier.

We are excited to be given the opportunity to host our Fundraising event this year at the Deckchair Cinema! I mean who doesn't love watching a movie under the beautiful Darwin sky in the dry season?

Even better? It's on Mother's Day - so bring the whole family along for an evening with your favourite people and your favourite city!

When: Sunday, May 12
Film: Bend it like Beckham (reminiscing on our 2018 show, In Your Blood)
Where: Deckchair Cinema - Jervois Rd, Darwin City
Time: Gates open at 6pm, Film begins 7.30pm
Catering: Dee Bee's Catering (local favourite!) & the Deckchair Bar will be open
Tickets: Pre-purchase tickets online

We look forward to raising some FUN with you all!
Be sure to 'share' the event with your friends & families.

Artistic Co-Director, David McMicken was invited by Canberra Dance Theatre (CDT) to create a new work on the GOLDs (Growing Old Disgracefully Seniors Dance group). CDT is a member driven organisation that integrates community and professional dance practice.  17 GOLD members enrolled and a new work called “Something” was created. David reworked the soundtrack he'd created for Tracks' 2017 show, Man Made making it more specific to the group.

The work begins in an internal world exploring distant memories and nagging thoughts. It then moves into a realm of comfort within our own bodies and joy in watching how others move. The section was created from personal moves and ‘stealing’ moves from each other. We then question how much body and soul we can give, and finishing in a social setting where we find great comfort, support and always finding “a time to groove”.

Each day we would start with a company class where repertoire from the Grey Panthers was taught, including Joanna Noonan’s Who Can Remember Sweet November, Let’s Get Physical and the 2019 participation piece En Masse. The week ended with a showing of Sweet November and the newly developed work, 'Something'.

We hope this is a start of a longer collaboration with other Senior dance groups. David sincerely thanks the kindness of Jacqui Simmonds, Phillip Piggin and all members at Canberra Dance Theatre.

We have officially moved... well still moving! There's still a few more boxes to unpack and we will finish nesting in our new office located at Harbour View Plaza, 8 McMinn St, Darwin.

Our NEW, bigger, brighter studio is hoped to be completed by Mid March and we will invite you all then to welcome the studio in style by the only way we know how... Boogy!

Drop in and say hello!

From Lajamanu to Lyons, Cricket to Football, West Lane carpark to the Darwin Botanical Gardens and activating the CBD with dance, we have had a wildly busy and wonderful 2018.

A huge thank you from the Tracks team to everyone who has been part of our year.

With special acknowledgement to our volunteers who gave a staggering 4,940 hours of their time and energy to make this year shine.

Tracks will be closed from December 22 2018 and will reopen on Tuesday 15 January 2019. From all of us at Tracks we wish you a joyful holiday season and we look forward to dancing with you in 2019.
