2019 Make a Dance in a Week

    October 7 - 11, 2019

Tracks' annual school holiday program took place in our brand new studio at Harbour View Plaza. A week full of intensive movement and choreographic workshops, involving fun and challenging activities to 'make a dance in a week'. The 2019 program was facilitated by Tracks Dance Alumni Jordan Bretherton and Madeleine Brown, who created a theme around constellations and astrological signs.

The program brought together 16 students in primary and middle schools for their daily workshops, followed by a performance at the conclusion of the week for their close family and friends on Oct 11.

    Creative Concept

The theme chosen by facilitators Madeleine Brown & Jordan Bretherton was Astrology. They based all of the creative process for the participants around their own individual Astrology, Zodiac signs and constellation meanings. Pulling inspiration from all of their personal elements to create their final dance 'they worked really hard and we were so proud of what they achieved in the week' said Madeleine Brown.

"I loved learning about my star sign and putting my own interpretation into the choreography" - Participant

“She was really engaged in the process, everyday my daughter would have so much to tell me about the process and stages that went through each day. She was really excited to show me the choreography that she created herself, it sounded like a really safe space because she had no hesitation to get up and show her moves in front of a group of strangers. I would definitely enrol my daughter in the program again.” - Parent

"They enjoyed themself so much, they couldn't wait to go back again each day!" - Parent

"I'm surprised they got to do so much in just one week!" - Parent

“It was so much fun, I want to do it again next holidays” - Participant
