Return to the playful and supportive atmosphere of ChoreoLab, and experience making work like the pros do.

We are inviting ChoreoLab alumni back into the studio for a unique weekend intensive to extend your skills and challenge you creatively.

Structured as a professional Creative Development, you will become an equal member of the creative team with Tracks’ Artistic Leadership, working collaboratively to devise a new work. Put your ChoreoLab toolkit into practice to explore the theme “Tipping Point”, and develop it from concept to performance.

The resulting work-in-progress will be shared with an invited audience.

This course is aimed at ChoreoLab alumni who have a shared understanding of choreographic tools, equivalent to first year tertiary study. If you have not completed ChoreoLab but have a similar movement background you are very welcome to take part.

    FAQs

    What is a Creative Development?

A creative development is a process where a group of artists come together to explore and develop an idea before it becomes a finished performance. It gives the creative team time and space to research a theme, experiment with ideas, and see what works creatively.
What will the two days look like?

Participants will be co-collaborators with Tracks’ Artistic Leadership and be led through a creative development process. This will include:

    • Getting to know each other and get a feel for the shared energy of the group.
    • Warming up together
    • Using improvisation, tasks, and discussions to unpack and dive into our theme “Tipping Point.”
    • Utilising the diverse creative skills and interests of the Artistic Leadership Team to look at the theme from different perspectives
    • Focused sessions on each art form, and collaborative, whole team sessions
    • Asking for your ideas and input, and working together to make creative decisions
    • Sharing what we have created during the development to an audience for feedback to help shape the work

How is this different from the regular ChoreoLab program?

The ChoreoLab Program takes participants through a series of stand-alone workshops over 10 weeks that explore different choreographic tools and approaches.

The ChoreoLab Extend weekend will be an opportunity for participants to use these skills as part of a creative team to explore a theme that becomes the cohesive, connecting idea for experimentation and exploration. The process will challenge and deepen our thinking around the theme, and generate choreographic and creative material that goes beyond an initial jumping-off point.
